Even during the "good times" (a year or so ago - prior to the current economic downturn), stress among lawyers was high. Numerous Bar surveys and lawyer-related studies document this conclusion.
Now, when economic conditions make work and life that much more difficult, lawyers' stress levels are REALLY high.
Lots of lawyers are feeling "blue" !
If life is getting you down. If you are wondering what's the point of all this madness, it might be time for a quick fix.
An antidote, and sure way to change these kinds of feelings, is to set your sights on another.
Pick a person, organization or cause to be the recipient of a random act of kindness.
Small acts often work wonders.
Give a compliment or offer help to someone in your office struggling with their work (or life).
Join a non-profit organization that does some good for those worse off than you.
Or, get involved in a cause that is "close to your heart." One that diverts your attention from the unpleasantness of the day.
You will find that you will not only lift the spirits of someone else, your spirits will be lifted as well.
